This seminar will be presented by Theo Kadis, Partner, Grope Hamilton Lawyers and will cover the following issues:
- Understanding the ITSA process and how long it takes
- Vendor signs a contract of sale and then declares bankruptcy
- Two vendors registered on a title, one declares bankruptcy
- Dealing with later license transfers when the proprietor is bankrupt
- Dealing with private mortgagees
- Common errors made on a LTO panel for T3
- Repayment of monies at settlement (e.g. priority on title)
Prior to joining Grope Hamilton Lawyers in the Spring of 2010 Theo enjoyed over 30 years' legal practice during which he has been a member of very highly regarded Adelaide firms, a principal in a legal practice partnership, and a sole practitioner.
Over these years Theo has developed considerable experience in many areas of commercial, business and property law. In particular he has represented many small to medium sized enterprises and especially so, "family businesses". This has allowed him to be involved not only in the development of these enterprises, but also succession to the next generation. In some cases, Theo is advising the second and third generation of owners of enterprises that he has represented continuously over his years of practice. Theo's involvement in the development, growth, protection and succession of these enterprises is most certainly one of the highlights of his legal practice.
Theo's long established relationship with his clients has also involved him practising extensively in the areas of Wills, succession, trusts and the appointment of enduring agents and attorneys.
Another significant area of Theo's practice is property and landlord and tenant law. This interest includes Theo's involvement as a member of the Law Society of South Australia Property Law Committee, since 1992.
