Careers
A Career in ConveyancingAre you considering a career change or about to enter tertiary education? Would you like the challenge of a career in property law combined with the satisfaction of helping people achieve their dreams? Then consider a career in conveyancing. Conveyancers are property law specialists; they are also "people" people who enjoy working closely with their clients, solving problems, protecting their interests, and striving to ensure a positive outcome. Professional conveyancers may be self employed and running their own business; they may work in small firms; or they may be employed by large conveyancing or legal firms. To maintain high levels of professionalism and keep up to date with complex legislative and regulatory changes conveyancers must undertake regular professional education throughout their careers. The AIC SA Division provide a range of Professional Development opportunities for both Registered Conveyancers and their staff and encourage conveyancers to attain the recognition of Certified Practicing Conveyancer (CPC). The future is positive for a career as a conveyancer with exciting moves towards electronic conveyancing and the increasing recognition of conveyancers nationally. |
What do I need to do to become a Registered Conveyancer? There is one institution in South Australia offering a tertiary course in conveyancing, the Panorama TAFE. No other courses are recognised for registration as a conveyancer in South Australia. Students at the Panorama TAFE can undertake an Advanced Diploma of Conveyancing (Conveyancing). This course may be studied to Certificate IV in Conveyancing for enhancing your skills without achieving the Advanced Diploma. Certificate IV students are not eligible for registration as a conveyancer. If you have completed studies in a related area at another institution you will need to discuss with TAFE if you are elibible for credits towards the Certificate IV or Advanced Diploma. The Consumer and Business Services is the licensing authority and further information about the registration process and requirements can be found on their website.
