The Australian Institute of Conveyancers
is the peak body representing the conveyancing profession across
the country; we also enjoy a close relationship with our New Zealand
colleagues through the NZIC. The Institute is governed by an honorary
council drawn from each state; the councils of each state division
are elected by their members. Peter Long is currently state president;
the national president is Terry Allen from the New South Wales
Division.
Nationally, the AIC represents some 1500 members; here in South Australia we have almost 350 members. Many conveyancers work independently or run small businesses; others may be employed by firms of conveyancers or solicitors. Whatever their situation or location, you can have confidence in the professionalism and integrity of an AIC member.
In South Australia, membership of the Australian Institute of Conveyancers is your best guarantee of ethical conduct, expert advice and professional service. Our members are fully qualified and legally registered; they are subject to our Code of Conduct; and they all carry professional indemnity insurance to protect you, the consumer.
AIC members must meet rigorous registration requirements. They undertake continuing professional development. The countless rules and regulations governing property transfers are constantly changing - our professional development program enables your conveyancer to understand the latest requirements.
